A new group of Avengers? Say it isn’t so! Well, actually, we all knew that this would have to happen some day – because, well – nothing lasts forever.
In a recent Q & A while promoting Age of Ultron’s DVD/blu-ray release, producer Jeremy Latcham and Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige opened up about the Cinematic Universe and how it might be disbanding after Infinity War:
“It definitely is an end to some version of the team that we’ve come to know in The Avengers. Who knows exactly what’s gonna happen yet in that film but I think this version of that team, and I think we hint to it at the end of Age of Ultron, that the team will be a evolving. And one of the things that we love from the comics is that the roster is always changing. New people are coming onto the team. You can pick up an Avengers book 10 years later and you don’t recognize the people on the cover but the ideas and the ideals that make the Avengers the Avengers still exist and I think that’s part of what this culmination will be. We’re seeing this version of the team doing this thing to save the universe, the galaxy, however you want to put it, and then we’ll kind of see where that goes. You know? It’s not the end of the Marvel Cinematic Universe but I think it’s the end of part of it, for sure. We’re still trying to sort out which parts.”
It seems that Infinity War will serve as one big giant battle – and possibly the end of an era. I guess we’ll have to wait and see what happens.
