IMAX has revealed plans for its Marvel Studios 10th Anniversary Film Festival. IMAX’s large-format screens will light up with screenings of all 20 MCU films starting August 30th in the U.S. and Canada. Three of the films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe that didn’t make it to IMAX theaters when they first released, but now fans will get to see them during the film festival. These titles are Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, and Captain America: The First Avenger.
All 20 films will be shown in the order they were released during the first five days of the festival, then two theme days will feature Iron Man, Spider-Man: Homecoming, Black Panther and Doctor Strange as “Origins” movies, and Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol 2, Captain America: Civil War, The Avengers and Avengers: Infinity War as “Team-Ups”. The festival will end on September 6th after showing two films fans choose by vote on Twitter.
“We knew we wanted to go big to celebrate 10 years of Marvel Studios, and you can’t get any bigger than Imax,” Kevin Feige, Marvel president and producer, stated during his announcement of the event, which will be put on in conjunction with Marvel and Disney. “This is an incredible celebration for fans. They will be able to see all of Marvel Studios’ films back-to-back and really be immersed in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.”
Marvel has been celebrating its 10th year of hero films all year with sweepstakes, collectibles, and a 10-year class photo. You might have even noticed their opening sequence with “Marvel Studios” showing the number 10 replacing the “I” and “O” in the spelling of the name.
If you didn’t already marathon the films in preparation for Avengers: Infinity War, this is your chance to finally see them all. Of course, if you have, seeing them on the big screen again is an opportunity that can’t be missed.
