If you’ve seen Avengers: Infinity War (and if you haven’t, you’re fired), then you know that the person who Nick Fury attempts to summon at the end before turning to dust is none other than Carol Danvers, aka Captain Marvel. Fury is seen typing on a pager-like device, which he drops upon vanishing. The camera pans to the communicator lying on the ground, with the symbol of Captain Marvel visible on the screen.
As we all know, the Captain’s solo film is due in theaters next March. So it only makes sense for the MCU films to start tying the character into existing stories. However, since her movie will be a prequel set in the 90s, we have no idea exactly when or how she will meet up with Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.
But an eagle-eyed fan has spotted another shot that just may give us more clues. During the scene in which Tony Stark tells Ebony Maw that “earth is closed,” Maw’s henchman, Cull Obsidian, is right by his side. But if you look carefully, you’ll see that Obsidian has something interesting hanging from his belt.
The object in question is some sort of scarf or sash. The interesting part here is that it almost certainly seems to come from Danvers’ own uniform. Take a look for yourself below:

The Russo Brothers knew that we would be so focused to the fight, and to the MCU’s biggest superhero crossover event that we wouldn’t notice the biggest easter egg in the film. Gosh, this is so incredible! #captainmarvel #InfinityWar #AVENGERS4 pic.twitter.com/jCnuw1jvKm

Seeing the familiar blue and red, with the gold stripes in between, leaves little doubt that he got the material from a run-in with the Captain. The question is, how? And more importantly, when will she return to claim what’s hers?
This was recently posted, however:

This fake #CaptainMarvel Easter egg got us all excited, but it’s already been debunked. #InfinityWar pic.twitter.com/dLzgdEUrql

We’ll have to wait for next spring to find out. Captain Marvel debuts on March 8th, and Avengers 4 will hit theaters on May 3rd.
Did you notice this subtle nod in theaters? Be sure to tell us in the comments!
