What’s better than Star Wars? Star Wars: Episode IX now filming. That’s right. We still don’t know the title of the last installment of the Skywalker saga, but filming has started and J.J. Abrams, director of The Force Awakens will return to the director’s chair – and he posted the following message on Twitter to announce filming:
Bittersweet starting this next chapter without Carrie, but thanks to an extraordinary cast and crew, we are ready to go. Grateful for @rianjohnson and special thanks to George Lucas for creating this incredible world and beginning a story of which we are lucky to be a part. #IX pic.twitter.com/FOfnGwVut5

John Boyega released pictures from behind the scenes. It’s a good thing he did, because Lucasfilm didn’t make fans aware in any way that filming commenced today.
The images the actor released were a video and picture on his Instagram account showing him working out and giving Naomi Ackie a warm welcome to the cast. Another noticed detail was that he grew out his hair for the role of Finn in the familiar way fans recognize from the two previous films. Through these pictures and videos, we are getting small clues of character development for the Boyega’s character.

The hair growing tells us that the next installment will more than likely take place months or even years after the event of The Last Jedi. Another clue is the fact that Boyega has packed on some serious muscle to his body.
Finn hasn’t been a pushover in the new franchise so far but most of the time he can barely hold his own against the likes of Captain Phasma, Kylo Ren, and yes, even stormtrooper FN-2199.
His intense workout routine could also mean that the actor is preparing some extreme elaborate action set pieces.
Though both previous films didn’t go over well with some fans, the fact that Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher will be appearing in Star Wars: Episode IX has seemed to pacify the naysayers for the time being. Since the last appearance of the two in the divisive installment of the Star Wars franchise, fans have still been waiting to see what’s in store for the characters of Rey, Finn, Poe, and even Kylo.
All we can do is wait and see with bated breath for any news on Star Wars Episode IX.
