During a recent interview with BloodyDisgusting, Robert Englund talked about how he agreed with the notion that most films don’t need to be rebooted. Specifically, he talked about the failed Nightmare on Elm Street reboot:
“You don’t do remakes! I would do Freddy 9, you know? Or I would do Freddy vs Michael Myers. Or I would do a prequel.”
Those both sound interesting. He also expressed interest in seeing Freddy go to the “hood”:
“Well, I’d like to see Nightmare in the Hood!” Englund said. “I would! I think it’d be really interesting to do a line of, like, retro 80’s hip hop ones and get a black actor to play Freddy and all the kids are, like, hip hop. Just do it the same!”
As news broke about a month ago that there is another Elm Street reboot in the works without Wes Craven, it seems that Englund isn’t very fond of the idea. Personally, I always wanted to see a sequel to Freddy vs. Jason. Having Krueger fight Michael Myers would be interesting also.
What do you think? Would you like to see Englund return or should the franchise be rebooted again? Let us know in the comment section below!
