In a last-ditch attempt to try and return to some level of relevance, the ailing Terminator franchise is taking itself back to basics. The (as yet untitled) sixth movie in the series sees both creator James Cameron and headline star Arnold Schwarzenegger providing their creative input. And this time round they’re being joined by none other than original cast-member Linda Hamilton, who’s now gone and revealed our first look at a modern day version of Sarah Connor in Terminator 6.
The 61 year old actress has until now been in the lucky position of having had absolutely nothing to do with the declining franchise since its heyday back in Terminator 2. It remains to be seen exactly how Jim Cameron (her ex-husband) has managed to coax her back into the fold, but it was recently announced that next year she would finally be reprising her most career-defining role.

Filming is believed to have already started in and around Madrid, and Hamilton has now gone and shared a photograph of herself via Terminator Fans of how the older Sarah Connor will appear in the movie. It’s eerily reminiscent of how the ageing model of Arnie’s T-800 was presented back in 2015’s Terminator: Genisys, which hopefully is the only similarity.
Indeed, the new project has elected to bypass the previous three attempts to reboot the franchise, acting instead as a direct sequel to T2.
Whilst Arnie’s Terminator will definitely be make an appearance (hopefully one better than his cameo in Terminator: Salvation), this movie will focus on a new Terminator model, played by Gabriel Luna. The actor recently won over Marvel fans with his portrayal of their MCU version of Ghost Rider, and his presence alongside several other Hispanic actors (Diego Bonita and Natasha Reyes) suggests the new movie’s plot line will see Connor returning to the Mexican training camp where she learned to fight for her future.
As well as a new type of Terminator, fans are also getting a new leading lady, with Black Mirror’s Mackenzie Davis coming on board to play an unknown principal character. There’s no word yet whether we’ll get to see old favorites Kyle Reece or John Connor feature on the new story, but with timeline tinkering forming the main spine of the series, their return is highly likely.
With a script crafted by legendary screenwriter David Goyer (wrote both the Blade and Dark Knight trilogies), and Deadpool Director Tim Miller helming proceedings, there is a real sense that Cameron & Co have pulled out all the stops to ensure that his iconic creation doesn’t permanent fade into cinematic history.
Terminator 6 is slated for release on November 22, 2019.
