Who says 71-years-old is too old to play a role like Rambo? That’s the age of Sylvester Stallone, and apparently, he’s still got it, as he’s in talks to star in Rambo 5! The report comes from Deadline, who says:
Avi Lerner’s Millennium is launching sales on the project in Cannes with a tentative shoot date set for September of this year. Stallone is understood to be working on the script and his Expendables collaborator Lerner will produce.
In the fifth episode of the franchise, when the daughter of one of his friends is kidnapped, Rambo, who has been working on a ranch, crosses the U.S.-Mexican border and quickly finds himself up against the full might of one of Mexico’s most violent cartels.
It had previously been reported that a Rambo television show was on the way, and that Stallone was going to retire the role for good – but apparently that’s no longer the case.
The last time we saw the character was in 2008, in the film simply titled, Rambo. The film was perceived well by most fans, but not critics, as it currently has a 37% on Rotten Tomatoes. Money talks, however, as the film made $113 million worldwide on a $50 million dollar budget, and also did well on home video. Obviously, home video isn’t the force that it was in 2008, so it’ll be interesting to see the scale that this film will have. Stallone is a big name, so it should do well for its intended targeted audience.
