Captain America: Civil War showed a separation of the Avengers and it was not to be taken lightly. Iron Man and Captain America’s battle lands no winner and separates the group into Team Iron Man and Team Cap. Of course, when watching the film, you could assume that Captain America wins when placing his shield in the reactor of Iron Man’s suit, but in the end everyone is devastated over the loss of the Avengers and the fact they are broken up. It becomes the old saying, you win the battle, but you lose the war.
With Avengers: Infinity War coming out, many fans are wondering how it will work with the Avengers split up and them needing to come together to defeat the big bad Thanos before he can destroy the world. According to the co-writers, Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, it won’t be forgotten and will be written into the movie to make sense. There will be no forgetting what happened in Civil War, this was a real fight, with real consequences.
Markus said:
“That is something we didn’t want to blow off. Didn’t want to devalue Civil War by having a phone call saying, “Let’s all get back together because there’s an even worse guy.” Nah, everything’s fine now. So we dragged that a long way through it so that we are valuing the resentments we’ve built up between these characters.”
It has also been brought to the fans attention that the Avengers are NOT prepared to handle Thanos to say the least. With two teams, due to the Sokavia Accords debate on if the government should be in control of the Avengers or not, it will not be easy for them to get back together and add many more to the battle to fight the big guy without dealing with the issue at hand first.
“They’re ill-prepared to handle this.” – Stephen McFeely
“Yeah. And it shows”. – Christopher Markus
With the War continuing between the Avengers, even with the stakes being much higher, it makes sense for them to integrate the problems from Civil War into the movie to help fans get better answers. Hopefully, it doesn’t take too much of the movie to come to resolution because they do have to take Thanos on and you can’t do that holding on to your petty issues. It is time to move on and show Thanos who this world really belongs to.
Avengers: Infinity War will be in theaters April 27th, with tickets going fast. Don’t wait to see how this all plays out on screen and keep up on ScreenGeek for the latest information!
