Kane Hodder is an actor most fans of the horror genre should be familiar with. He not only played the iconic slasher Jason Voorhees during four consecutive installments, but Hodder also managed to extend his talents to other horror franchises – something he says he wants to do with another iconic franchise and character: Halloween’s Michael Myers!
He was a stunt double for R.A. Mihailoff during Leatherface: Texas Chainsaw Massacre III, and even portrayed Freddy Krueger’s cameo in Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday. Hodder continues his slasher villain legacy even today, where he’s most notable for his role of Victor Crowley in Adam Green’s Hatchet franchise.
While speaking recently, Hodder revealed that Halloween is the one franchise he’s missed out on and would love to play a role in. According to him:
“It’s pretty cool to say I did one shot as Freddy, several scenes as Leatherface, four of the movies as Jason. I just need to do a movie version somehow of Michael [Myers].”
It certainly sounds like an unique idea to have Hodder portray Myers, if not just to give him the chance to play all the major slasher villains at one point of another. But it’d have to be a role similar to when he acted as Freddy in Jason Goes to Hell – simply a quick shot of an arm or something similar. Myers has always worked best as a slim, average-looking individual; hence why Nick Castle is returning to portray him in Blumhouse’s new sequel. It just wouldn’t look right with the bulking Kane Hodder donning the iconic William Shatner mask.
It all depends on what Blumhouse intends to do with the Halloween franchise, and personally I’d like to see it end on a high note – but who knows? Maybe there is room for Hodder somewhere.
In Blumhouse’s upcoming Halloween sequel…
Laurie Strode comes to her final confrontation with Michael Myers, the masked figure who has haunted her since she narrowly escaped his killing spree on Halloween night four decades ago.
Halloween returns on October 19, 2018.
