Sam Rockwell Drops F-Bomb On ‘Saturday Night Live’

    By Jennifer HuneycuttJanuary 15, 2018
    Sam Rockwell Saturday Night Live

Saturday Night Live has certainly had its share of gaffes in the past. Ranging from the mundane to the profane, it’s just part of the peril of live television. People have flubbed lines, tripped on stage, burst out laughing in the middle of a skit, and the list goes on. But rarely have the hosts screwed up this badly. Poor Sam Rockwell (a first time host) was in the middle of a skit in which he portrayed a teacher with especially dim students. He did a little bit *too* good of a job expressing the educator’s frustration, letting his potty mouth get the best of him. Watch the hilarious clip below:

Rockwell was clearly mortified as he immediately realized what he’d just said. Cast members Cecily Strong and Mikey Day, while obviously shocked, admirably rolled with it. Everyone quickly recovered and continued the skit.

Sam Rockwell Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri

We hope this doesn’t negatively affect Rockwell, who is in the middle of a great awards season. Thanks to his role in Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, he’s received a slew of nominations this year, including winning a Golden Globe just last week.

If you’re wondering who he is, comic fans may know him best from Iron Man 2, as smarmy adversary Justin Hammer. Sci-fi buffs remember him from the comedy Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, and the drama Moon. But it’s his role as a racist cop in Three Billboards that seems to have finally elevated the talented actor to the A-list. Hopefully, this will only be a blip on his otherwise great year.
