Adam Green and his Hatchet franchise are clearly following in the steps of their slasher film predecessors. And like all good slashers, they tend to leave a bloody path of sequels as time goes on – and now Hatchet will soon have its fourth movie released in Victor Crowley.
The film already had a theatrical roadshow last year, where it was received positively by fans all over. And if you missed out on that, don’t worry, because Dark Sky will be releasing the movie on DVD, Blu-ray, and VOD on February 6, 2018.
While we already had a teaser trailer for the film’s announcement last year, Dark Sky has released a longer 2 minute trailer to go along with the release date announcement. It gives us a better look at the characters, plot, and carnage – and the whole film looks like it’ll be one hell of a time. Aside from the gore, it proves to have an interesting setup and a nice blend of humor. What’s especially interesting is that this is the first sequel to take place years after the original film. The other two Hatchet movies merely all took place back-to-back.
In the film:
In 2007, over forty people were brutally torn to pieces in Louisiana’s Honey Island Swamp. Over the past decade, lone survivor Andrew’s (Parry Shen) claims that local legend Victor Crowley (Kane Hodder, Friday the 13th series) was responsible for the horrific massacre have been met with great controversy. But when a twist of fate puts him back at the scene of the tragedy, Crowley is mistakenly resurrected and Andrew must face the bloodthirsty ghost from his past.
2018 is certainly going to be a good year for slashers – and for horror in general.
