As production on Sony’s upcoming Venom movie continues, fans have been curious about how faithful Venom’s design will turn out. Without the aid of Spider-Man’s character, it seems confusing how Venom will actually exist, and it’s worried some fans quite a bit.
While there hasn’t been any new footage from the film released, we do have a possible look at the 3D model being used for Venom’s appearance – and it’s actually pretty accurate to the character.
A creature effects artist named Mikkel Frandsen recently posted a sculpt of Venom onto his website. While it isn’t confirmed that he’s working on the film, he does have an unnamed 2018 film on his resume, so it’s easy to assume this could be the Venom movie. *Update* This is NOT the first look at Venom in the movie – as confirmed by Sony after this report.

There were also new pictures of Tom Hardy from the set of the movie, apparently in a scene where he’s trying to control the symbiote:

I suppose we’ll just have to wait and see if this will end up in the finished film or not. Until then, there’s still not much else known about the movie. Although it has been discussed that it’ll most likely follow the Lethal Protector storyline, with plenty of influence from filmmakers John Carpenter and David Cronenberg.
The character’s creator, Todd McFarlane, thinks the film will be good – because of Tom Hardy:
“I’ve seen some movies of his where he can bring anger and a wide personality to it. To me, I think Tom Hardy’s going to be as good as whatever Venom looks like. We all know Tom’s going to act. He’s going to do a good job. So now what’s Venom gonna’ look like? It’s an R-rated movie, how “R” are they going to go? To me, that’s the question. Are they going to go a “little bit R”? Venom’s a monster to me, and to me – are they going to make him a monster or are they going to make him a man? Are they going to humanize him? That’s what we gotta’ find out.”
The film features Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock, while Riz Ahmed, Jenny Slate and Woody Harrelson also star. It’s also been revealed today that actress Michelle Williams will be playing Anne Weying. In the comics, Weying was Brock’s ex-wife and eventually becomes She-Venom as her story goes on.
Venom hits theaters on October 5, 2018.
