While set photos and leaks normally always turn out to be the opposite of what we actually see in a finished movie, a new set photo from the upcoming Venom movie may have given us a very important detail about the film – as well as a potential look at Tom Hardy as the character.
The Instagram user TomHardydotorg posted the following picture on their account yesterday:
It’s interesting because it appears to be the Agent Venom look (obviously not confirmed) after we had heard they were going with the Lethal Protector storyline. The Agent Venom story features Flash Thompson, and it’s already been confirmed that Hardy will be playing Eddie Brock in this movie, so it’s unclear what route they would be going with that potential move.
While fans seem to be divided on the potential of this movie, Venom’s creator Todd McFarlane says he thinks Hardy will do a good job:
“I’ve seen some movies of his where he can bring anger and a wide personality to it. To me, I think Tom Hardy’s going to be as good as whatever Venom looks like. We all know Tom’s going to act. He’s going to do a good job. So now what’s Venom gonna’ look like? It’s an R-rated movie, how “R” are they going to go? To me, that’s the question. Are they going to go a “little bit R”? Venom’s a monster to me, and to me – are they going to make him a monster or are they going to make him a man? Are they going to humanize him? That’s what we gotta’ find out.”
With the actor appearing to be going all out for the role, it should definitely be better than the Spider-Man 3 version of Venom – but then again, what wouldn’t be? Since it’s R-Rated and has Hardy, I think it still has enormous potential to be good and I’ll definitely give it a chance.
