We’re yet to see what Tom Hardy’s Venom will look like in the upcoming Venom movie, but one thing is for sure: we do have a a decent amount of set photos (and now a video) giving us an idea of what Eddie Brock will look like.
We were first given a set photo basically announcing that the film had actually started filming, and then another one featured Tom Hardy celebrating two weeks of filming. Now, thanks to Radar Online, we have a pretty good look at Hardy as Eddie Brock in a video and some new set photos:

The film is said to be adapting the popular Lethal Protector Marvel Comics storyline, and though it won’t be set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it does have quite a few positives going for it. It’s got Hardy as a lead, it’s R-Rated, and will feature Carnage as the main villain.
Hardy even has the backing of Venom’s creator, Todd McFarlane:
“…To me, I think Tom Hardy’s going to be as good as whatever Venom looks like. We all know Tom’s going to act. He’s going to do a good job. So now what’s Venom gonna’ look like? It’s an R-rated movie, how “R” are they going to go? To me, that’s the question. Are they going to go a “little bit R”? Venom’s a monster to me, and to me – are they going to make him a monster or are they going to make him a man? Are they going to humanize him? That’s what we gotta’ find out.”
It’s definitely an interesting project. Considering Sony is making it, it could either be the Venom movie we’ve all been waiting for, or it could end up being Spider-Man 3. Tom Hardy’s involvement has me thinking it’ll be good, though. Following parts of the Lethal Protector comic is also probably the best route they could have went.
Obviously, Spider-Man won’t be in it – at least not Tom Holland’s version, and considering how big a part Spider-Man is in that specific storyline, it’ll be interesting to see if the character is at least referenced.
Venom is scheduled to hit theaters on October 5th, 2018.
