For all of the macho posturing in the Fast and Furious films, the actors sure seem to behave like a bunch of children. I didn’t care enough to pay attention, but there seemed to be some kind of petty feud between Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Vin Diesel earlier this year in which Johnson called Diesel a “candy ass” and a “chickens***”. I would assume those two worked it out since they went and promoted The Fate of the Furious together and seemed to be in good spirits. It now appears there could be some trouble behind the scenes of Fast and Furious 9.
Johnson has gotten himself in a fight with a different Fast and Furious costar: Tyrese Gibson. Following news that the release of Fast and Furious 9 will be pushed back a year to 2020 to make room for the release of a spin-off film centering around Johnson’s Luke Hobbs and Jason Statham’s Deckard Shaw rather than the entire F&F “fambly”.
Gibson, seeing this move as a result of Johnson’s ego getting out of control took to social media and published this rant:
“Congratulations to The Rock and your brother in law aka 7 Bucks producing partner for making The Fast and the Furious franchise about YOU – And like you, DJ even if they call I will not be deleting this post – Gn folks see you in 2020 April #FastFamily right? Nah… it’s about #TeamDewayne. 3 yrs will it be worth the wait? #NoShaw just Hobbs will this be another #BayWatch? Guys guys just relax I’m just a passionate film critic.”
It’ll be interesting to see how this thing plays out.
