Just last week, we reported the surprising news that actor Daniel Day-Lewis was done with acting.
There weren’t many details, aside from this statement from his publicist:
“Daniel Day-Lewis will no longer be working as an actor. He is immensely grateful to all of his collaborators and audiences over the many years. This is a private decision and neither he nor his representatives will make any further comment on this subject. ”
Well, now, according to The New York Post, the actor has some pretty random plans for his life now that he’s done with acting.
Per the report:
“Friends of Daniel Day-Lewis say the Oscar winner hatched his plan to quit acting years ago and was just searching for the right film that would allow him to go out on top. And now there’s buzz in Hollywood his next move could be working as a haute couture dressmaker.”
Apparently, the method actor had been looking to leave acting for a while – but wanted to find a project he deemed worthy to go out on:
“He’s so method, it takes him three years to prepare for a role,” the source said. “He was telling friends he really wanted to go out with a bang.”
Obviously, take this with a grain of salt, as the website has been wrong with celebrity gossip in the past. After all, if the right role were to come along – who’s to say he wouldn’t make a return down the line?
His last film Phantom Thread is scheduled to hit theaters on December 25th and was directed by Paul Thomas Anderson.
