James Gunn is arguably one of, if not the most active creative member of the MCU on social media. Regularly interacting with fans, as well as being unapologetically upfront and honest when it comes to how he feels and what he’s working on.
However, like most of us, he’s not above a little bit of immature humour, and messing around with people. As was the case when he trolled ‘some kid’ pretending to be Kevin Feige on Instagram, whilst also dropping some fake news about the upcoming MCU slate.
As Gunn said himself: “The other night some kid pretending to be Kevin Feige, the President of Marvel Studios, contacted me on Instagram. As I was watching a TV show I wasn’t particularly involved in, and as I have the maturity of a twelve year old, I decided to troll him.”
Check out the Facebook post, as well as the whole conversation here:
Reading through the whole conversation, it is endlessly amusing how Gunn both plays along with this guy, and also completely throws him off. Ranging from such claims that GOTG Vol. 3 opens with Groot’s beheading, to Popeye making an appearance in Thor: Ragnarok’s post credits scene.
What also makes this funny, is the fake Feige’s strange dedication to the lie. Even though it’s obvious right from the off that Gunn knows, and is making it obvious to the guy that he knows. The person still tries, even though he’s not good, he tries. Even going so far as to ask if Gunn is drunk or not.
Like that’s gonna work.
All in all, a funny little story, with a simple moral. Don’t try and bs James Gunn, he’s too good for that.
What do you guys think of this story? Think Gunn should’ve gone further with the trolling? Sound off in the comments below!
