Though details have been scarce on the upcoming Deadpool 2, the cast and crew have been working to maintain enthusiasm from fans. Though no official confirmation of shooting has been released, we’ve already been teased by the short “No Good Deed” the played before the theatrical release of Logan and the casting of the film’s co-hero Cable as Josh Brolin. Now we finally have word that the villain of the film has been cast with actor Jack Kesy.
No word on who Kesy is playing has been given currently but sources close to the production have pegged him to play Black Tom. Tom first appeared in Uncanny X-Men #101 in 1976 as a mutant who could generate and discharge concussive blasts of force and heat through any wooden medium.
Tom is the cousin of X-Men member, Banshee, and a frequent foe of both Deadpool and the X-Men, having teamed up with Juggernaut and the Brotherhood of (Evil) Mutants. Including Black Tom in the script could possibly allow Banshee and Juggernaut to join the film as well, giving the movie a bigger cast of X-Men characters as well give the returning character Colossus someone to punch.
After director of the original film Tim Miller exited the project back in October, the film’s direction seemed to be in question as Miller left over creative differences. Director David Leitch has since signed on to direct the sequel, after his film Atomic Blonde featuring Charlize Theron and James McAvoy premieres in July.
Deadpool 2 will premiere sometime next year with Ryan Reynolds reprising his role as the titular hero, Deadpool aka Wade Wilson. Cast of the first film are all set to reprise their roles.
