The ongoing war between Marvel and DC is still going on and it’s as fearsome as ever. With the Marvel Cinematic Universe having dominated the box office for almost a decade, DC has now just started to play catch up. Although Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad performed well at the box office, critics and fans have proved to be far more divisive as to the overall tone of the movies, with many complaining about DC going too dark with their most iconic heroes.
On the other hand, many other people have complained about how they’ve gotten fed up with Marvel’s family friendly fun, with the constant use of one liners often dominating the dialogue and the lack of real threat on show. Well now one Youtuber, who goes by the name of Exploring the Internet, has decided to have some fun and create a fan-made trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy – DC style.
Using dark colour grading, a foreboding soundtrack and cherry picking the most violent and emotional scenes from the movie, it’s amazing to see how a couple of simple cinematic techniques could have such a drastic impact on the overall feel of the trailer. Now I have to admit, I was totally digging this DC vibe as it almost had me believe that Peter Quill wouldn’t be dancing in front of Ronin by the end of the film however that’s an entirely different matter.

Pretty cool? Still, one has to admit how Guardians of the Galaxy is a fantastic addition into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Boasting a fantastic soundtrack, a good sense of humor and a colorful cast of characters, it was one of the first Marvel movies that felt as if the director had a real input into what happened in front of the camera. With the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2 due for release on May 5th, 2017, there’s not long left now until we can see our favorite bunch of mercenaries in action.
What do you make of the fan-made trailer? Are you excited for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2? Do you think Marvel should mix it up when it comes to the overall tone of their movies? Sound off down below!
