With reception of Jared Leto’s Clown Prince of Crime less-than-stellar, possibly due to much of his role actually being cut from the film, many fans aren’t too excited by the notion of him returning to our screens. However that hasn’t stopped the Oscar winning actor from teasing a potential showdown between his character and Ben Affleck’s Dark Knight.
The moment which got fans excited happened yesterday, when the Suicide Squad actor posted some fan art to his official instagram page. The artwork shows his Joker holding a knife to the throat of Ben Affleck’s Batman, something which would certainly be cool to see on the big screen.

Whilst this is more than likely just the actor showing some appreciation of his fans dedication to the character, others have taken it as him hinting that this may actually be something we see on screen in the near future. After all, it would be a crime not to have the two face off at some point in the DCEU.
In all honesty I was never a fan of some of the decisions that the studio made in regards to The Joker, however I personally believe that with the right script and some adjustments to the character’s look, Leto could be the definitive version of the character on screen.
As it stands, the character’s future in the franchise is up in the air. We may have a potential cameo in Justice League later this year, but after that it’s unlikely we’ll see the character until Suicide Squad 2 or Gotham City Sirens -whenever they are released.
