Everyone seems to be excited for Shane Black’s upcoming Predator sequel. And who wouldn’t be? If you consider Black’s history, especially with the Predator franchise, it makes a lot of sense that this could be the film to bring the series back to stardom.
Unfortunately, it looks like the original film’s star, Arnold Schwarzenegger, is unhappy with Black’s sequel – and won’t be a part of it.
In an interview with Yahoo Movies, the actor had this to say:
“They asked me, and I read it, and I didn’t like it, whatever they offered. So I’m not going to do that, no. Except if there’s a chance that they rewrite it, or make it a more significant role. But the way it is now, no, I won’t do that.”
While that doesn’t give us much understanding to the problem, Shane Black did tweet that he thinks the issue stems from the size of Schwarzenegger’s potential role, not the actual quality of the script.
And, of course, there’s always the chance that Schwarzenegger could be lying to throw us off his track and he’ll actually be making an appearance in the film. It’s surely happened before with other films and franchises, so I suppose it’s safe to say only time will tell the true answer.
Shane Black’s The Predator hits theaters February 9, 2018.
