One of the most interesting aspects of the internet, is that it can give anybody a platform to explain their theories, no matter how outlandish they may be. This is exactly what has happened recently with the movie, Life, with one fan coming up an interesting theory about how it can relate to a popular Marvel character.
Eagle-eyed fans recently noticed that a tv spot for Life actually featured footage seemingly taken from the earlier film, Spider-Man 3, more on that over here. This information, coupled with the films premise of an alien parasite making it’s way to earth led one Reddit user to speculate that Life is in fact an origin film for the Spider-Man character, Venom. What’s interesting is that an actual Venom spin-off is actually set to be released next October. Although I’m sure that this is purely a coincidence.
There has actually been a bit of a trend recently wherein studios do not reveal a films connection to another until late on into production. This happened twice last year, first with 10 Cloverfield Lane, which was believed to be a film called The Cellar right up until the release of the first trailer. Another instance of this is the recent Blair Witch film, which was shot under the title, The Woods. There is another film I won’t mention due to spoilers which wasn’t revealed to actually be a sequel to the very last scene.
Of course there is currently no evidence to suggest that the alien in the film is actually the same symbiote that appears in the Spider-Man franchise. Although it is fun to speculate on the matter. We’ll find out whether this theory comes true when the film hits theaters at the end of the month.
What do you think? Do you think this is a plausible theory? What other films do you believe are secretly connected to one another? Let us know below!
