Edward James Olmos Makes Comeback In BLADE RUNNER 2049

    By Tony SmejekMarch 14, 2017

On top of veteran Blade Runner actor Harrison Ford making his return to the sequel, Edward James Olmos will also be making his comeback. It was in an interview with Thetrend Talk Show on Facebook and one of the interviewers did express that five months earlier she had asked him if he’d be reprising his roll as Gaff in Blade Runner 2049 and back then he told her “No.”

Since it has been brought up again during Thetrend Talk Show interview, Olmos finally announced to the world (facing the camera) that he will be coming back as Gaff in Blade Runner 2049. The above clip has him saying this at the 32:35 mark, counting down.

He had mentioned how around the time he was approached with this question five months ago that he had signed a 7-page non-disclosure contract. This included himself as well as other key crew people. This explains why his initial response was “No.”

But now the cat is out of the bag and it’s official from the mouth of Olmos.

He also explained how his role would be returning.

“Well, it’s not about Gaff, but it’s about someone who is going to try to find out certain things about us back then. My role is like it was in the original [1982 film] — that time I only had four scenes, in this I only have one. But again, it’s a poignant little scene.”

Blade Runner 2049 debuts this year, Oct. 6.
