Earlier today, Disney held a meeting for its shareholders and those in attendance were lucky enough to be treated to the first footage of this years highly anticipated Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Whilst it hasn’t made its way online, a description of the footage has made its way online. Read on to check it out.
The footage description came courtesy of a series of tweets made by Los Angeles Time reporter, Daniel Miller. In his tweets he revealed that the footage initially opened with a humorous scene in which Rey hands Luke Skywalker a lightsabre, in reference to the end of the previous film, Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
The actual footage from the film revealed what happens next after Daisy Ridley’s Rey approaches the aged Jedi. After staring at her in shock at the end of the previous film, Luke then simply asks the stranger ‘Who are you?‘ to which Rey responds with a demonstration of her lightsabre skills. This seemingly shoots down any pre-existing fan speculation that Luke had a previous connection with Rey, including the notion that it was in fact Luke who left her to fend for herself on Jakku.
The rest of the footage also showcased new looks at Finn, Chewbacca and General Organa, played by Carrie Fisher who sadly passed away in December. Other footage revealed several new planets, with varying landscapes including Deserts, forests, oceans and mountains. It also featured a shot of an X-Wing, mid battle inside a giant ship, wobbling as it flies. You can check out Daniel Miller’s tweets below.
"Star Wars: The Last Jedi" clip is being screened. But it's a joke, sort of! We just got a few seconds of Rey handing Luke a lightsaber.

One last thing on the "Last Jedi" footage: We saw all sorts of settings — mountains, oceans, forests, deserts. Look suitably epic, exotic.

More on "The Last Jedi" clip: We saw a shot of an X-wing wobbling mid-air, under attack inside a giant ship. Looked like a wounded bird.

More on "The Last Jedi" clip, since ppl are asking: General Leia Organa was onscreen for just a second in military garb and didn't speak.

A tidbit on "The Last Jedi" footage: In the clip, a character yelled "It's now or never!" Sorry to say I couldn't tell you who screamed it!

Hopefully some of this footage will make its way into some form of trailer in the near future, if not we’ll see it when it hits theaters December 15th 2017.
