It’s been a long time coming however Marvel have finally found their Black Bolt in the form of AMC’s Hell on Wheels star Anson Mount. He’ll be joining Game of Thrones star Iwan Rheon who’ll be portraying Black Bolt’s brother – Maximus the Mad.
With Vin Diesel originally campaigning for the role, many fans knew it was going to be a long shot for the Fast and Furious star to bag the part. With his role in the Marvel Universe having already been fulfilled, thanks to his voice work as Groot in Guardians of the Galaxy, it was extremely unlikely that he’d take a step back from the silver screen to act in a TV Series.
Jeph Loeb, head of Marvel Television and executive producer on Marvel’s The Inhumans had the following to say in regards to the casting:
“Anson loves the challenge of playing a character who will only communicate silently. His enthusiasm mixed with his imposing almost regal persona made it easy to see why he is our Black Bolt.”
Showrunner and executive producer, Scott Buck then added:
“Black Bolt is a character whose deep complexity must be conveyed without uttering a single word, and I’m very excited to have Anson on board to bring him to life.”
With filming scheduled to begin this month in Hawaii, the first two episodes of The Inhumans are expected to be premiering on IMAX screens ‘on or around September 1st,’ for two weeks. ABC will then start broadcasting the series weekly with the first two episodes containing exclusive content from September 26th, 2017.
