Despite rumours heavily pointing to James Bond actor, Pierce Brosnan, being cast as Deadpool’s time travelling buddy Cable in the upcoming sequel, the characters creator has thrown another actors hat into the ring. Read on to find out who it is.
Deadpool creator Rob Liefield recently took to Twitter to drop hints to Man of Steel actor, Russell Crowe, that he should audition for Cable in the upcoming Deadpool 2. Crowe actually responded to the comic veteran, seemingly quite interested in the notion. This exchange was picked up by We Got This Covered and you can check it out below.
@russellcrowe you should read for #Cable in Deadpool and X-Force. Just sayin…

I'm sure if @VancityReynolds has any interest in that idea he'll find a way https://t.co/KFUC6fIxjS

It certainly seems like Crowe is keen to take on the role and would certainly bring a certain gravitas to the character. Last years The Nice Guys also revealed that he would be a good stoic foil to Ryan Reynolds’ Merc with a Mouth whilst also being able to hold in his own in the joke department. He certainly has a much closer build to the character than Brosnan does, although it’s not unknown for actors to bulk up for roles.
Another actor rumored for the role is Bloodline star, Kyle Chandler, who was first mentioned as being in the running last year. Other actors who have lobbied for the role include Hellboy star, Ron Perlman and Avatar actor Stephen Lang.
As it stands, Deadpool 2 has yet to receive a release date but producer Simon Kinberg has revealed the studio are looking for a 2018 release.
What do you think? Do you think this is a good choice? Who would you like to see? Let us know below!
