Actor Tom Hiddleston happened to win his first Golden Globe Award on Sunday evening and attempted using his acceptance speech to bring awareness regarding the civil war happening in South Sudan. Despite his noble actions, however, he only succeeded in being criticized on social media.
This happened after he explained in his speech how he met with several different doctors and nurses in the world’s youngest nation who would binge-watch The Night Manager when in need of levity.
Huddle explained that, “the idea that we could provide some relief and entertainment for people… who are fixing the world in the places where it is broken,” was very moving. He also dedicated his win “to those out there who are doing their best.”
