There’s no arguing that Warner Brothers’ latest superhero film, Suicide Squad, had its flaws, not just some flaws but many flaws. Many of these were directed at the film’s plot and inconsistent tone, but a lot of these were also aimed some of the film’s stylistic choices in regards to the look of Jared Leto’s Joker and Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn.
However some recently released concept art show us just how much worse they could have been. Read on to find out more.
The pictures come courtesy of the film’s Costume Graphic Illustrator Tina Charad, and gives us a look at the alternate costumes and tattoos the pair could have been sporting in the film.
You can check out the pictures below:
Given how many critics commented on the hyper-sexualised look Harley received in the film, I find it hard to imagine seeing Robbie walking around ‘Puddin’ tattooed across her ass or The Jokers face on her chest, complete with breasts for eyes.
These pictures also seem to reveal that the studio didn’t seem to be considering a more classic look to the characters at any stage in production. Although looking at some of these looks, we should probably be thankful that we didn’t see Leto running around in a pair of custom boxer shorts. Speaking of which, does The Joker have some tailor held hostage or something? These are the questions we need answering Warner Brothers!
Anyway, the looks the characters did receive will certainly be around for a while to come, you just need to go to any comic con to see just how many you Harley Quinn’s are out there.
What do you think? Do you prefer any of these looks? Do you like the choices they went with? Let us know below!
