Next year, everybody’s favourite ragtag band on intergalactic outlaws returns in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2. and as is the case with most Marvel films, us fans are eager to get whatever information we can. Now, thanks to Sean Gunn, who appears in the film as Kraglin the Ravager, we have some information on where we’ll find the titular heroes at the start of the film.
Whilst at the Heroes & Villains fan fest, ComicBook.com caught up with Gunn who revealed:
“When the movie starts, it’s only a couple of months after the first movie, The Ravagers have not gone hard after Peter Quill after he double crossed them with the Infinity Stone.”
Many fans have also noticed that in the poster and clips released, Yondu (Michael Rooker) does appear to be a little ‘chummy’ with our heroes, something that’s his fellow Ravagers have also picked up on. Gunn elaborates:
“There’s a little rumbling amongst the Ravagers, like, ‘Where does Yondu’s allegiance lay here? Is he going soft on Quill?'” Before adding “So, the Ravagers have to make a decision of what they’re gonna do about Yondu and I think Kraglin is a key part of that.”
It certainly sounds as though Yondu may be in need of some new teammates over the course of the film, perhaps this is how he ends up in the company of Quill and co.
Gunn then went on to talk a little about what the movie will do the same as its predecessor aswell as what it will do different. He revealed:
“I do think that it tries to touch some of the same notes that worked in the first movie, It’s a tentpole movie, meaning it’s literally for everyone. It’s not just a kids’ movie disguised as an adult movie or vice versa. I really think it’s for all ages. I really do think it has a heart but it’s a comedy, as well. I’ve heard my brother [director James Gunn] say that the first movie was about creating a family the second movie is more about being a family and the struggle of maintaining that. I think that’s spot on and I hope that’s what resonates with people.”
Given that the first trailer released was actually supposed to be a teaser for the full trailer, we’ve can probably be expecting a new one to drop very soon. Hopefully it will give us a better look at the films story.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is set to blast into theatres May 7th 2017
