X-MEN Closer To Being Part of The Marvel Cinematic Universe?

    By Jessica OliverOctober 27, 2016

Marvel Studios and 20th Century Fox haven’t had the best business relationship in the last few years. Fox didn’t want to give up Fantastic Four, so Marvel cancelled the comic series. Fox didn’t want to give up X-Men, so Marvel tried their hands at incorporating two X-Men characters into Age of Ultron.

Spoiler Alert: It was a disaster.

Knowing the rather heated relationship between the two companies, it should come as no surprise that unlike Sony’s willingness to collaborate with Marvel on new Spider-Man films, Fox and Marvel are not about to do the same thing anytime soon.

The president of Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige, recently confirmed that a collaboration with Fox is unlikely to happen. In an interview with Collider, Feige stated that the relationship between the two companies was “the same as always”. He added that while the companies “get along and I see them occasionally”, that nothing has changed.

There had previously been hopes of Fox cooperating with the MCU back when the upcoming X-Men television show, Legion, was announced. However, Bryan Singer has since claimed that to be untrue as Legion would be a standalone series that was part of the X-Men universe. The Russo Brothers, directors of the two recent Captain America films and the upcoming Infinity War film have also denied any involvement with the X-Men films.
