Last year, The Force Awakens jumped off the big screen and into our hearts as Star Wars fans and let us know that it was back and it meant business. With the upcoming release of Rogue One, fans are once again excited to be transported to a galaxy far far away. I think it is safe to say that we fans are all stoked about the future of the franchise but one of the best parts is how much homage the new movies pay to the old.
Lucasfilm and Disney are hitting us with a double dose this fall with the release of a 3D collector’s edition on Blu-Ray of The Force Awakens. In doing so, there will be tons of content from commentary to featurettes to deleted scenes, with one of those deleted scenes being revealed by Entertainment Weekly.
Buckle up your seat belt, because this scene makes any Star Wars fan excited, it shows something that we have never seen but have always wanted to:
Chewbacca finally ripping someone’s arms off.
It’s awesome to see that this scene takes place in Kanata’s cantina in her castle. When Rey, Han Solo and Finn meet the little orange lady, Rey ends up running into Unkar Plutt, the same Unkar Plutt that she “stole” the Millenium Falcon from. Unkar tries to give Rey some bullshit and then makes the epic but fantastic mistake of calling Chewbacca “half a Wookie.” I’m sure the message boards and theorist are going to blow up asking the question, “If he’s only half Wookie, then what’s the other half!?” But let’s be real here, we all can tell a Wookie from a Wookie. *cough* Knights of the Old Republic *cough* Kashyyyk *cough*.
After Plutt decides to pop off at the proud Wookie, Chewbacca decides to do what we have all been waiting for after Solo warned 3PO in A New Hope while playing Dejarik. Chewbacca literally rips his arms out of his sockets. That’s right. Rips. Them. Out.
The scene actually ends right before the arm ripping so you will just have to wait until the November 15th release of the Blu-Ray. Rogue One will also be in theaters December 16th of this year.
