Season 4 of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. premiered Tuesday night, and they wasted little time getting to the part that everyone was waiting for – our first look at Ghost Rider.
Personally, I was rather on the fence going into this, for a few reasons: I wanted to see Johnny Blaze, my personal favorite Rider, rather than Robbie Reyes; and I thought that network TV, especially Disney-owned ABC, wouldn’t do right by the darkness and violence of the character. I thought he was better suited to a Netflix series, or at least a place in the MCU films (which would still have to tone him down a bit, but not as much as TV).
So, imagine my surprise when Ghosty showed up in the very first scene, hunting down members of the Aryan Brotherhood. They, of course, weren’t long for this world. (And I’m not gonna lie, that car had me missing Blaze’s bike a lot less than I expected to.) But it was later in the episode, when he came face to face with Quake, that we finally saw Reyes’ full transformation into the Rider.
Holy. Shit.
Yes, I fangirled. You know you did too. But, just in case you missed it, check out these clips and pics from the episode:
