Just last week, Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler announced his desire to appear in a third Guardians of the Galaxy film, which as it stands doesn’t exist. Well, the director of the first two films, James Gunn, has revealed his thoughts on the aging rockers plea. Read on to find out.
In response to a fans question during one of his Q&A sessions on Facebook, Gunn revealed:
Yes, I did hear that Steven Tyler wants to be in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy.’ He gave me a shout-out the other day in an interview. He said, ‘James Gunn are you listening?’ The answer is: Steven, yes I am listening.”
He also went on to add:
I’m a big fan of Steven Tyler‘s. I had the pleasure of directing his daughter Liv in a movie [“Super” in 2010] in which she was fantastic, and I met him for a few seconds at a screening of that movie. He’s a cool guy. And of course I would love to work with Steven Tyler sometime.”
Without confirmation that a third film is even on the way, it’s hard for Gunn to comment on the matter. However, that didn’t stop him from giving him some hope to former American Idol judge.

Given the 80’s love in the first film, something which looks set to continue in next years Guardians of the Galaxy: Volume 2, Tyler would definitely be a good fit. You could almost imagine Quill having some Aerosmith on his trademark Walkman.
The titular team are set to return to our screens in Guardians of the Galaxy: Volume 2, set for release May 5th, 2017.
