Given that in the past, ‘Arrowverse’ characters who made the leap to the big screen have ended up being written out, The Flash actor John Wesley Shipp would likely have been starting to get a bit nervous when Billy Crudup was announced as portraying Barry Allen’s Father in the big screen adaption. Luckily, the actor seems to have nothing but positive things to say about his replacement.
Shipp was mentioned in a fans tweet in response to the Watchmen actors casting as Henry Allen. Shipp responded with plenty of praise for Crudup. You can check out the tweet below:
@krolljvar Billy Crudup is AWESOME actor. Love this choice. Can't wait to see their take on it. Thank you Marc!

Now that Shipp has traded in his Henry Allen role for one much cooler in the Arrowverse, which I won’t disclose for those who have yet to watch the second season of The Flash.
Since being cast as Henry Allen, Shipp’s performance has been well received so as the fan says, Crudup does have ‘big shoes to fill’ although based on his performance as Doctor Manhattan in 2009’s Watchmen, he definitely has the chops to take the role on.
The Flash will return for its third season October 4th, 2016 on The CW whilst the big screen adaption will be racing into theaters March 23rd, 2018.
What do you think? Are you glad to hear Shipp back this new choice? Are you excited to see Crudups take on the wrongfully imprisoned character? Let us know below!
