Game of Thrones has literally taken the word by storm. With something that has gone from an extremely popular book to a mind blowing show, it has people waiting for the next season with baited breath for the last few months. Recently a poll was taken on a site calling itself the “Game of Thrones Party.” What this site has essentially done has taken the leading characters from the show and pitted them against one another to find out who the best choice of leader for the whole “party,” in celebration of the show’s season 6 release to digital platforms. In August, fan boys and casual watchers alike got to vote for the first time on who they thought should be the ultimate crown bearer. The candidates were:
Jon Snow and Lyanna Mormont
Daenerys Targaryen and Tryrion Lannister
Petyr “Littlefinger” Baelish and Sansa Stark
Cersei Lannister and Qyburn
When the final ballot was cast, there was over 1.6 million votes put in, which is quite impressive and gives due credit to how popular GoT truly is. But, when looking at how the votes were cast, you’d be surprised to know that the fan base isn’t as lopsided as one would assume. Obviously, the baddie herself, Cersei Lannister, only came in with barely 2% of the vote. But then the other teams came in nearly a three way tie. Team Baelish finished with 31%, Team Targaryen finished with 32% and Team Snow snuck the win with a total of 35% of the votes.
With everything said and done, the truly amazing and best part about this election is, the winner has received their very own “ode” to their election. Kyle Glass, John Konesky and John Spiker of the band, Tenacious D who are also the creators of the new super sweet rock band, Valyrian Steel, have wrote an “Ode to Jon Snow.” It features a totally kickass lute, awesome medieval riffs and a wicked flute to wrap it up in a nice little package:
Game of Thrones returns for its 7th season mid-2017 and will consist of seven episodes rather than the normal ten.
