This fall sees the introduction of Ghost Rider into the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Gabriel Luna joining the cast of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. as Robbie Reyes. However it sounds as though the characters origin maybe slightly different from that of his comic book counterpart. Read on to find out what the executive producers have to say.
Speaking to TV Line, Executive Producer Jed Whedon revealed:
“We can’t say much about what we’re going to do with [Robbie Reyes’] origin, but we are doing our own spin on it.”
Before adding:
We don’t want people who have read the comics to know exactly what’s coming.”
In the comics, the character’s origin involves being gunned down by mercenaries whilst attempting to acquire the serum which causes Calvin Zabo’s transformation into the villain Mr Hyde.
Given that Zabo and his ‘Cocktail’ have been featured on the show, could this mean that Kyle McLachlan could be returning? Well when informed that many fans are hoping for the actors return, Whedon explained:
“So would we.”
Given that the supernatural isn’t set to be incorporated into the MCU until Doctor Strange hits later this year. It’s unsure just how drastically they are set to change the characters origin. We do know that the the characters brother Gabe Reyes is set to join the show as well.
We’ll find out when Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns September 20th.
