It’s been well documented in the past that Marvel Studios can be difficult to see eye to eye with at times, with criticism coming from employees both on both sides of the lens. Some choose to be open about the matter, such as Terence Howard and Mickey Rourke, whilst others such as Edgar Wright, who for any years was in line to direct Ant-Man has remained silent on the matter. Now, one-time Thor: The Dark World director, Patty Jenkis has spoken out about her feelings on the company.
Jenkins, who is currently working for the opposition on Wonder Woman, has spoken to Entertainment Weekly about the experience she had whilst working on the 2013 film for Marvel. The Monster director, revealed that:
“I’m still so grateful to those guys for hiring a woman to direct f—ng ‘Thor.’ Why would you do that? You don’t have to do that.”
It certainly seems as though there are no hard feelings between director and studio, and it may have even allowed her to get her foot in the door with Warner Brothers to direct Wonder Woman’s solo debut. It also seems to echo a previous statement she made back in 2011 where she explained:
“I have had a great time working at Marvel. We parted on very good terms, and I look forward to working with them again.”
Based on what little footage we have seen so far, Wonder Woman is definitely shaping up to be an impressive film, with Gal Gadot already making her explosive debut in Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice. Hopefully we’ll be treated to a new footage at this weekends Comic-Con in San Diego.
