Die Hard Director John McTiernan Bashes Comic Movies and Captain America

    By Frank PalmerJuly 14, 2016

A couple weeks back we saw Independence Day director Roland Emmerich bashing comic book films – even going as far to say that they ripped off his style of directing. Other big name filmmakers have taken shots at the genre as well, saying that it’s just a fad that will die out like the Western (Spielberg).

Now, Die Hard director John McTiernan is bashing the genre:

“These are films made by fascists,” and “Comic book heroes are for businesses.”

He also went on to bash Captain America as a character:

“Captain America…The cult of American hyper-masculinity is one of the worst things that has happened in the world during the last fifty years,” he said. “Hundreds of thousands of people died because of this stupid illusion. So how is it possible to watch a movie called Captain America?”

    Strong words.
