Whether you’ve been an avid reader of the books or have just been keeping up with Marvel Comic’s news, you’ve known that the Odinson has been unworthy and that Jane Foster has been filling in as the wielder of Mjolnir, and she’s been doing a fine job. And even though her adventures will be continuing in The Mighty Thor, we will finally be getting back our favorite Odinson in a book of his own in The Unworthy Thor.
Since the event Original Sin and Nick Fury whispered those secret words to him, Thor has been deemed unworthy of lifting his ubiquitous hammer, Mjolnir, and his life has been rather stormy. The Odinson has been pretty much absent from Marvel’s “All-New, All-Different” run in the books, outside of a few cameo’s in Jane’s The Mighty Thor. Through those appearances we’ve learned he has been being detained by mysterious power.
From the team of writer Jason Aaron (who has been doing a fantastic job with Star Wars and The Mighty Thor.), and artist Oliver Coipel we will finally get Thor back in his own book. The Unworthy Thor will be dropping this fall and follow the God of Thunder’s escape from captivity, from none other than one of the Elders of the Universe, The Collector, and subsequent journey of self discovery and seeing the Odinson mature into a great hero once again.
Will we finally learn those powerful words that Nick Fury whispered to Thor to make him unworthy? We do know that writer Jason Aaron has revealed we will see Thor wield his hammer once more, a separate Mjolnir from what Jane has been wielding, and that he will not be going by the name Thor for now in this run. What are your thoughts on the God of Thunder’s new journey of finding one’s self and becoming worthy from the Odinson.
