With the ongoing legal feuds between Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively, Baldoni’s lawyer has stepped in to say how surprised he was by Ryan Reynolds and a joke he made regarding his wife, Blake Lively. The joke was made by Reynolds during the live recording of SNL50: The Anniversary Special on February 16 in New York City.
As noted via People, Ryan Reynolds chose to make the joke when someone asked him “How’s it going?” while he and Lively posed on the red carpet together. Reynolds chose the following response which seems to reference the aforementioned lawsuits tied to Baldoni:
“Great, why? What have you heard?”

Furthermore, as shared by Baldoni’s lawyer Bryan Freedman during an appearance on Hot Mics with Billy Bush, he was outright surprised by this comment from Reynolds. In fact, he called it the “latest move” from her team. It seems as though Freedman can’t process why anyone would find humor in a situation where their wife was supposed to have been sexually harassed.
“I’m unaware of anybody, frankly, whose wife has been sexually harassed and has made jokes about that type of situation,” said Freedman regarding the Deadpool star. “I can’t think of anyone who’s done anything like that. It surprised me.”
Baldoni’s lawyer also commented on Baldoni’s “hopeful” feelings regarding the legal situation and the actor’s recent trip to Hawaii with his family:
“I wouldn’t call it vacation. I don’t think anybody who has been accused of heinous, arguably what are crimes is on ‘vacation,’ “ said Freedman. “I think he is trying to gather with his family and get some semblance of peace.”
It’s certainly an interesting development for the situation between these three individuals, and while it might not mean much, it’s another example just how far these legal entanglements can go.
