One of the superheroes that continues to be a large part of the MCU, aka Marvel Cinematic Universe, as the franchise moves forward is none other than Spider-Man. Tom Holland’s Spider-Man, who was first introduced in Captain America: Civil War, received his own spin-off trilogy with Spider-Man: Homecoming, Spider-Man: Far From Home, and Spider-Man: No Way Home in addition to other supporting roles. Now we know when Spider-Man will be making his next return to the MCU.
This return of the beloved superhero character was confirmed by Marvel Studios executive producer Brad Winderbaum. He recently participated in an interview with Critqal before revealing the surprising project that Spider-Man will be part of. What’s so interesting about this project, however, is that we did not previously know Spider-Man was involved when other characters were announced.
Here’s what Winderbaum shared:
“Hudson [Thames] has been our animated voice for Spider-Man in the MCU so far, in ‘What If…?,’ in ‘My Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man,’ and he also plays Spider-Man in ‘Marvel Zombies‘ which comes out Halloween time this year.”
As mentioned, this means fans won’t get to see the Tom Holland version of the character next but rather the animated version voiced by Hudson Thames. Fortunately, his work on the animated side of things has been well-received and fans are no doubt eager to see what he brings to Marvel Zombies. The Disney Plus animated series is scheduled to be released on October 3, 2025.
Regarding Tom Holland, it seems like fans will next see his live-action version of the character in Avengers: Doomsday. Fortunately, he’s also expected to return in Avengers: Secret Wars as well as his own fourth solo Spider-Man movie. With all that in mind, there’s plenty of Spider-Man action to go around in the next few years.
Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional Marvel Cinematic Universe news as we have it. For now, however, it’s nice to know when we can expect to see Spider-Man make his next MCU return. It’ll certainly give fans of the webslinger something to look forward to, even with the recent release of the Disney Plus series My Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man.
