The platform Disney Plus has become a popular streaming destination for fans of classic Disney films and shows, Star Wars projects, and the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Now, however, it looks like Disney Plus could reportedly be cancelling a fan-favorite series.
This is far from the first cancellation made by Disney. In fact, the studio is often trying to save money and canceling expensive or unsuccessful shows has become a trend for Disney at this point. Nonetheless, it’s still disappointing when fans learn their favorite properties won’t be coming back for additional seasons.
Now, according to insider Daniel Richtman, this could very well be the case with another Disney Plus series after it returns for a second season. While fans can still expect new episodes, Richtman reveals that the series could come to an end before getting a third season to further tell its story.
The series is Ahsoka, a Star Wars spin-off show following the character of the same name, and another series that revolves around the same time period as The Mandalorian. Richtman suggests we could see the second season released sometime in 2026, and that it’s planned to have a definitive ending in case the series doesn’t get picked up again.
It’s worth mentioning that this doesn’t guarantee Ahsoka will be canceled. However, it’s always a smart thing for such a popular Disney Plus series to know when to quit. After all, it can be quite difficult to see these types of projects frequently renewed. As such, we’ll have to wait and see whether or not Ahsoka makes it to three seasons, but at least fans can look forward to Season 2.
Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional Star Wars news as we have it. For now, it looks like fans might have to brace themselves for Ahsoka Season 2 as both a continuation of the first season and a true series finale.
