Netflix offers its subscribers a selection of numbers fan-favorite films and shows. Of course, as many fans have learned the hard way, these projects don’t tend to last forever on the service. In fact, it’s just been announced that Netflix has canceled another beloved fan-favorite series.
This cancellation is rather unconventional, however, as the series was actually canceled by another platform first. The series initially debuted on Max for a single season before being canceled by the service. The fan-favorite series was then moved to Netflix, which gave fans hope that it would receive another chapter.
However, as noted by the show’s co-creator Joe Bennett, this is not going to be the case as Netflix has also passed on renewing the project. Here’s what Bennett shared via social media:
“As of right now, Scavengers Reign is not being renewed for a second season.
“I wanted to let everyone know directly because I really love our fanbase, they’ve been such champions for the show, and I don’t want to leave everyone hanging.”
Bennett continued to emphasize the struggles that he and the other creators of Scavengers Reign faced just to get the show off the ground in the first place. These struggles, he reveals, can be traced back to 2016.
“We’ve had to fight tooth and nail every step of the way to get this show made, starting all the way back in 2016 with the Scavengers short film to the release of the first season last year.”
After thanking everyone involved, however, Bennett did include this interesting tidbit regarding the possibility of a second season elsewhere including an in-house teaser as shared on Instagram:
“But this is not the end. There is more story to be told, we are ready to make another season, and we produced in-house at Green Street a teaser for what was going to come in the second season.”

For those hoping for a more positive update regarding Scavengers Reign, however, it looks like fans will be disappointed. At the very least, however, it looks like there’s a possibility for more content if someone does renew the series.
