Netflix has announced that another one of their shows will be coming to an end. This time, however, the announcement isn’t as premature as some of their cancellations in the past have been. In fact, they’ve confirmed that this Netflix series will conclude with a fifth and final season.
This announcement regarding the fifth season comes just ahead of the show’s Season 4 Part 2 premiere. As such, it’s a bittersweet announcement, but it’s enough to get fans prepared for the conclusion that’s now coming.
This ending was also confirmed by the show’s co-creators and executive producers Jonas Pate, Josh Pate, and Shannon Burke.
As shared via Deadline:
“From this beginning, we imagined a mystery that would lead to a five-season journey of adventure, treasure hunting, and friendship,” they said, admitting that at the time, “it seemed impossible that we would really get to tell the whole five-season story.”
The series, titled Outer Banks, has been a major success for Netflix across its initial four seasons. Now, however, the co-creators are working hard at crafting the show’s fifth and final chapter. Here’s what else they shared regarding the final season which they believe will be the “best yet” for the series:
“With a little sadness, but also excitement, we’re putting Season Four behind us, and are turning to Season Five, in which we hope to bring our beloved Pogues home in the way we imagined and planned years ago,” they said. “Season Five will be our last season, and we think it will be our best yet.”
It’s a bold decision considering just how popular and successful the series has been for Netflix. Of course, being that this ending is planned, it seems like they want to end this Netflix series on a high note as a result with a proper final season.
