The Marvel Cinematic Universe is made up of numerous different films and shows. While it hasn’t always been difficult for the studio to get these projects off the ground, there’s one film in particular that has had a heavily troubled development. Now this MCU movie has been removed from the release schedule by Marvel Studios completely.
In fact, the studio decided to replace the spot of this MCU flick with a separate franchise entry altogether. There is no new date for this particular Marvel release set, so it’s unknown how the studio plans to pursue the project. For fans that just want to see it get off the ground, there are plenty of questions.
Here’s what was shared via Variety on the matter:
“Disney has removed the Marvel reboot of ‘Blade‘ — starring Mahershala Ali as the titular half-vampire — from the release calendar. It was dated for Nov. 7, 2025.”
The outlet adds that the film replacing Blade is none other than Predator: Badlands, the next installment in the Predator film franchise. While it’s a good sign for Predator, especially when its most recent installment premiered on Hulu instead of theaters, it’s not so good for Blade. The film has already had several delays, changes in writers and directors, and reports of scripts that attached star Mahershala Ali was not pleased with.
Eric Pearson is the current writer attached to the project, with previous drafts having been written by Michael Green, Stacy Osei-Kuffour, Michael Starrbury, Beau DeMayo, and Nic Pizzolatto. It was first announced in 2019, so fans have certainly been waiting long enough to see the film made.
