The DC Universe is being actively developed, with Superman: Legacy set to kick things off on the big screen in 2025. Of course, there are several television projects in development, and this includes a Green Lantern series titled Lanterns. Now a new report claims that none other than Josh Brolin is reportedly wanted for the Lanterns series as Hal Jordan.
This report, as shared via Nexus Point News, should be taken with a grain of salt. However, knowing that DC Studios is working on the series, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see they have a few actors in mind to star. This includes the actors wanted for the show’s two leads, Hal Jordan and John Stewart.
According to the outlet, “Josh Brolin has been offered the role of Green Lantern Hal Jordan in DC Studios’ HBO series, Lanterns.” The outlet continues to describe this version of Hal Jordan “as a Lantern legend” and that he “will be a veteran member of the Corps.”
At the time of this writing, however, Josh Brolin has yet to have accepted the alleged offer to play Hal Jordan. As such, if he passes on the role, the studio will continue looking for another actor to play the part. They’re said to be looking for “white actors in their forties and fifties” for the role.
Obviously Josh Brolin has already had not just one but two major roles for Marvel. He’s played Thanos in the MCU in addition to playing the role of Cable in Deadpool 2. It would certainly be interesting to see him have a hand in the DC Universe next.
Lanterns is expected to begin shooting next year in 2025, so hopefully we’ll have more details in the near future. As for now, we’ll have to see where this report takes us next.
Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates regarding the upcoming Lanterns series and the potential involvement of Josh Brolin. He would certainly be a strong pick to play Hal Jordan in the series, especially given his former experience in the world of superheroes.
