A fan-favorite HBO series has been officially canceled by the network. Sadly, the series has found itself axed, with only three seasons of the show having been produced.
The news regarding the show’s cancellation has been shared by its creators, Hannah Boss and Paul Thureen, along with star Bridget Everett and executive producer Carolyn Strauss. Their statement regarding the cancellation emphasized their happiness to have worked on the series and how grateful they are to everyone involved.
Nonetheless, everyone involved seems happy to have reached this point. The series has been rather successful throughout its run, and during its second season, the series received a Peabody Award and even received a nomination for a second GLAAD Media Award. These are only a few accolades the series has received during its run, so hopefully the ending will still be able to satisfy viewers.
Here’s what they shared via WBD:
“It has been the greatest dream to bring this world to life, and to do it with HBO. Kansas Prairie-sized love and thanks to Amy, the entire HBO family, and to the most talented and caring cast and crew. The heart of Somebody Somewhere is friendship, and we will always hold dear the friendships on the screen and those forged behind the camera.”
The third season of the canceled HBO series is set to begin airing on October 27, 2024.
The series, titled Somebody Somewhere, is a comedy drama series which first premiered via HBO on January 16, 2022. Its second season premiered a year later on April 23, 2023. As such, fans have been eagerly awaiting the show’s third season, which will unfortunately be its last.
Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates regarding the latest HBO news as we have it. While it’s certainly disappointing that Somebody Somewhere has come to an end, there are still plenty of other projects from the network to enjoy or look forward to.
