If an actor or actress is looking to place themselves on the list for the highest grossing, the easiest way to do it is to either appear in a Marvel film, a Star Wars film or appear as some form of talking animal. In Scarlett Johnansson’s case, do two out of three and seeing as that has led to her being named the highest grossing actress in Hollywood, it’s clearly working.

This revelation comes via Box Office Mojo‘s updated list of top-earning actors which places the actress, who has portrayed Black Widow in five films in Marvel Cinematic Universe, at 10th Place with an impressive $3.3 billion North American total.

 

This is most likely due to the runaway success of the Marvel films, with three of the films she starred in grossing over $1 Billion. Although her appearance in this years live action The Jungle Book film would have certainly have added to it, given that it also grossed $930 Million.

It’s actually interesting to note that only five of the top ten have actually starred in a Comic Book Movie, the genre which seems to dominate the box office this day and age. What is impressive is that a lot of the actors on the list have been in the business a lot longer than Johansson with a lot more films under their belt.
