The Alien franchise has covered lots of ground over the years. The next installment in the series, however, will be visiting the timeline between Alien and Aliens. The final trailer for the film, titled Alien: Romulus, has now been released online.
Fede Alvarez directed the film and also co-wrote the screenplay with frequent collaborator Rodo Sayagues to craft a story that returns to the roots of the Alien franchise. As the trailer below reveals, it’s a terrifying venture with the classic Xenomorphs that fans have come to both love and fear over the decades.
The footage features the aforementioned Xenomorphs and all of their different incarnations, including Facehuggers and Chestbursters, and one can’t help but enjoy the familiar sights of the dystopian world of Alien. Alvarez no doubt did his best to make sure that Alien: Romulus truly feels like a bridge between Alien and Aliens.
Here’s the final trailer for Alien: Romulus:
Fans have had extremely mixed reactions to the film series over the years. While Alien and Aliens have been almost universally praised, reactions began to change with the release of Alien 3. Additional sequels and crossovers followed, such as Alien: Resurrection, two AVP movies, Prometheus, and Alien: Covenant.
As such, fans are hopeful that Romulus will change this trend and once again offer a horrifying thrill ride in the style of the original two movies. And, if this trailer is any indication, then they very well could have succeeded.
The cast of Alien: Romulus includes Cailee Spaeny, Isabela Merced, David Jonsson, Archie Renaux, Spike Fearn, and Aileen Wu.
Alien: Romulus is scheduled to hit theaters on August 16, 2024. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional news regarding the release of Alien: Romulus as we have it. For now, this final trailer will hopefully hold fans over until the release of the film.
