When it comes to being cast as a superhero some actors are able to keep it under wraps until an official announcement whilst others seem to be just so excited that they can’t help but spill the beans. Now it looks as though we can add The Walking Dead actor, Justin Kucsulain to the latter after he revealed his interest in a powerful Marvel character.
Kucsulain, who had a short role as Hilltop turncoat Ethan in the latest season of the hit AMC show before being despatched by Rick Grimes, took to his Instagram page to show off the collection of goodies he purchased from his local comic book store. What’s interesting about his haul however is that it all seems to have a recurring theme. It is all featuring Marvel comics powerhouse, The Sentry:
In the comics, Robert Reynolds aka The Sentry first debuted in a self titled series back in 2000 where it was revealed that he was once a prominent hero in the universe before having himself removed from the memory of everybody on earth in an attempt to stop his nemesis, The Void. The character returned again in 2005 in the pages of Brian Michael Bendis’ New Avengers, which eventually saw the character join the team. While he said to have the ‘power of one million exploding suns’ he is also seen as a troubled individual who is extremely susceptible to manipulation.
If the character is about to join the ranks of the MCU it’s currently unknown as to where it will be. Given that the actor and character aren’t exactly well known, it seems highly unlikely that it will be on the big screen. It could be that the character could be joining the upcoming season of Marvels Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. although a case could be made that this will be the mysterious television series that 12 Years a Slave scribe, John Ridley is currently developing.
It could just be that Kucsulain just really, really likes The Sentry, and I mean a lot. Although given how actors love to post pictures of themselves with their comic book counterpart (I’m looking at you Bernthal) it’s entirely likely we’ll be seeing The Sentry in the near future.
